ADDS Dataserver 1.4 Release Notes (updated April 2010)
Host: Experimental ADDS (http://weather.aero)
This release contains extensive bugfixes from the previous 1.2 release. ADDS Dataserver version 1.3 was never released to Experimental ADDS. Version 1.4 introduces a pseudonym for the PIREPs data source named 'Aircraft Reports.' Behavior is identical to PIREPs when requesting the new Aircraft Reports. Users are encouraged to switch to the new data source, as PIREPs will be removed in the future. The previous Experimental ADDS release (version 1.2) will be decommissioned two months after the 1.4 release.
Changes, New features, Performance Enhancements
'pireps' data source renamed to 'aircraftreports'
The data source formerly known as 'pireps' has been renamed to 'aircraftreports'. As some users noted, this data source includes several data
products, only one of which is PIREPs. This new name more accurately reflects the contents of the data source, which include AIREPs, PIREPs, and MDCRs. Users of
the 'pireps' data source will need to make changes to migrate their software. Note that this change is also reflected in the XML schema:
- The 'PIREP' element has been renamed to 'AircraftReport'
- The 'pirep_type' element has been renamed to 'report_type'
- These changes are reflected in a new schema (was: pirep1_2.xsd. now: aircraftreport1_0.xsd)
Bug Fixes over 1.2 (identical to the bugfixes introduced in version 1.3 Ops ADDS release)
- Flight path queries should now properly include both their origin and destination waypoints in returned data (when applicable, such as non-density filtered queries)
- CSV and XML output formats should be resilient to unusual characters in the raw text (the cause of some "Internal Server Errors")
- Geographic requests against area products (AIR/SIGMETs) should now return correctly filtered results
- The altitude constraint should now return correctly filtered results
- Other infrequent "Internal Server Error"s should be resolved
